Ice Breaker

Way back in 2010 (Kevin even had hair then!), I got my first exposure to a CrossFit competition - the Sectionals. The event in Fredericton saw some current and former CFM members compete. I was blown away by the energy from the spectators and the drive of all the athletes.I came away from this event energized and quite frankly jealous, not of the athletes skill level - I knew I wasn't in their league - but craving the opportunity to give it my all and being cheered on by a crowd who knows what you are going through and want you to succeed!Today's CF athletes are presented with opportunities that just didn't exist then - the Open and Ice Breaker divisions; both these allow CF athletes at any level to compete alongside other athletes. What a great opportunity to get out of your comfort zone! One of this year's Open announcement saw "regular" CF athletes compete live right alongside some of the CF Elite. I don't think anything embodies CrossFit more than this. Just like a regular CrossFit class where you have athletes doing RX'd & scaled side by side - both come away spent if they give it everything they have.I urge any CFM member that is "on the fence", when it comes to competing, to embrace the challenge. I know your fellow CF Buddies will support, encourage, and cheer you on all the way. I am certain you will come away from the experience with a feeling that you can accomplish any challenge you are faced with in the future.Oh, and the Hopper is coming up! What another great opportunity to get involved!-Coach MarcelSpend 15 minutes working on a goat (handstands, double unders, OHS, etc.)4 rounds200m Run12 C2B9 BJ (30/24)Rest 1 minCompare to May 4/15
